Football, Fat and Friends in DVD

Out in DVD this week, we've got a goofy comedy in Leatherheads. The origins of professional football makes for a good story. Uber-chick flick Sex and the City hits the disks, and will most likely fly off the shelves. Well worth a look. Run Fatboy Run is a story with a lot of heart that surprised me earlier this year. In my que is the thriller, Deception. Panned by the critics, I'm still going to give it a look. Happy renting!

"Fat Boy" isn't a classic, but I found myself rooting for Pegg's character in the final minutes. Sometimes, that simple emotion is all you need to know that a film is working on you on some level.

Toto~You said it. There was just enough heart in Fatboy to make this film work.

I saw Sex in the City for a second time in a hotel last month (first time was on the big screen) and...UGH...just confirmed my initial feeling of disappointment from the first time I saw it. I wonder if all of the people who waited to rent it will be as disappointed as I was. What happened to the witty, unpredictable writing that was in the HBO series?!?!
p.s. Saw the writer on the View Friday talking about her new book coming out...she said they might be making a second Sex in the City movie!!! BARF!!

Liza~I hear from a lot of series fans that were disappointed by this film. I was a casual observer of the series, and thought the film was OK. The news that they want to make a second feature film is a bit of a push. We'll see how far Hollywood tries to ride this train.
