300

300 is a highly stylized film, depicting of the battle at Thermopylae in 480 BC ,where 300 Spartans square off against 100,000 Persians. The film is an adaptation of the Frank Miller graphic novel, based on this battle. The film style and color makes most of the scenes look like a comic book. It's an impressive visual. The testosterone runs rampant, right down to the Spartans talking shit to both the enemy and each other (which I thought was kind of funny). The battle scenes are incredibly violent, yet there are attempts at a story through scenes with the strong, beautiful queen. The audience I saw this with was predominantly male, and they all had huge smiles on their faces walking out of the the theater.

Judging from the box office totals and the numbers of young men going to see this film (a market that hollywood has had a traditionally hard time understanding). Expect to see lots of copies of 300 over the next few years.

Saw this over the weekend and loved it. The style was awesome, the visuals amazing...even the costuming was incredible - and I NEVER notice that kind of thing!

Best reason to see this movie? ABS, baby! ABS!
Although I was very sad that my 300 boyfriend got his head chopped off. :(
