The Christmas weekend did not leave much time for movies, but I did see a few.
We Don't Live Here Anymore is a story of matrimonial betrayal. Not a pleasant topic, but the acting and writing are topshelf. I had the pleasure of meeting the director, John Curran, at the Newport Film Festival this summer .... very nice guy (good looking too)!
The Aviator is the latest biopic in theaters this week. Leonardo DiCaprio gives an awesome performance as Howard Hughes. The emotional energy consumes the viewer. The dinner scene with Katherine Hepburne's family, and a plane crash scene are true art, Scorsese should be proud. Some scenes are drawn out, I think the film could afford about 20 minutes, but it's worth it.
