2006 was a good year in film. I haven't added a film to my personal Top 10 Favorite list since 2004. Before the Oscar's are announced, I want to add Little Miss Sunshine to my Top 10 (sorry Sofia, Lost in Translation is now #11). Now the list reads:
1. Godfather
2. Chinatown
3. Pulp Fiction
4. Eternal Sunshine of a Spotless Mind
5. Casablanca
6. Mary Poppins
7. Memento
8. Fight Club
9. Monsters Inc.
10. Little Miss Sunshine
This week I'll share my thoughts on the Oscar nominees in bite size pieces each day, and make my predictions for the award winners. Let Oscar week begin!!

My top 10:
1. Deer Hunter
2. The Hudsucker Proxy
3. Ran
4. The Devil Wears Prada (I've probably watched this movie 13 times already and its not old. Gotta give it a nod).
5. Ordinary People
6. Magnolia
7. Little Miss Sunshine
8. Sound of Music
9. Breakfast at Tiffanys
10. Silence of the Lambs
All great films, quite a mix! The only one I haven't seen is Ran, and I know I should. I'll put it in my Netflix que.
I cannot tell you how many times I have seen Ran. I was first introduced to it in High School (I took Japanese as my language). There are so many good things about the movie. It is also quite violent (like most samurai movies) but watch how Kurosawa contrasts the violence with nature. Amazing.
You might also like Dreams (Ume). Its another one of my Kurosawa favorites.
Oh - No. 11 Parenthood. I love that movie. Anything really with Jason Robards in it I usually enjoy. Probably why I like Magnolia so much, because it was his last (as far as I know).
I liked Magnolia as well. Dreams is another one for my list, thanks!
